Official Tabi Family account-deletion page
Delete your Tabi account
Tabi lets adult account holders request deletion in the app. If you cannot sign in, you can ask Tabi Support to begin a verified deletion request.
Delete your account in the app
- Sign in to your adult Tabi account.
Open the Tabi app using the account you want to delete. - Open Profile.
Select Delete Account. - Choose when deletion should happen.
Select Delete Immediately or Delete in 30 Days. - Confirm the request.
Type DELETE and confirm.
If you choose the 30-day recovery period, family access is removed when the backend accepts the request. You can sign in during that period and use the pending-deletion screen to cancel before the scheduled date. Immediate deletion begins processing without that recovery delay.
If you cannot sign in
Email support@tabifamilyrides.co.za with the subject Tabi account deletion. Where possible, send the request from the email address connected to your Tabi account. If your account uses a phone number, say that you signed in by phone and provide only the minimum number information needed for Tabi Support to locate the account.
Include
- Your request to delete the account.
- The email address or phone number associated with it, where needed.
- Whether you can still access the app.
Never include
- Your password or a one-time verification code.
- An identity-document image, bank information or detailed medical information.
- Precise live location or unnecessary information about a child.
Emailing support does not automatically delete an account. Tabi Support must first verify account ownership and, where linked child or family information is involved, the requester's authority. To prevent fraud or malicious deletion, support may reply with limited verification steps. Requests that cannot be verified will not be actioned.
What account deletion targets
After a verified request reaches Tabi's deletion process, it targets the following records, subject to successful processing:
- The Firebase Authentication account and primary Tabi user profile, including saved general area and beta acknowledgment.
- Supported private user subcollections, including notifications, registered notification devices/tokens, saved places/routes, driver documents, user vehicles and emergency contacts.
- The public driver profile and Tabi's local driver identity-verification records.
- Supported user, profile, driver-document, vehicle and child-photo storage paths associated with the user ID.
Open ride requests and ride offers created by the user are changed to cancelled rather than erased. An active trip driven by the deleting user is also changed to cancelled and its vehicle is released. Family membership is removed from active family lists and may remain marked as deleted.
Records from the updated beta
The updated beta deletion process is designed to remove private feedback reports and selected screenshots, submission controls, survey answers and invitation state, shuttle enquiries and controls, and local identity-verification status and control records. This cleanup depends on the updated service being deployed and successfully processing the request. Contact support if you need confirmation or access to these records; feedback and survey responses are not included in the current in-app export.
Copies already delivered to the support mailbox or forwarded with consent to a shuttle provider are separate records. Account deletion does not automatically remove those copies or Firebase Crashlytics diagnostics. Crashlytics reports are not linked to a Tabi account ID for lookup; Firebase states that removal of the covered crash data and identifiers begins after 90 days. See the Privacy Policy for details and request help through the company mailbox.
Information that may remain
Some records connected to an account may remain where they are shared with another family member or ride participant, or where they are needed for safety, dispute, fraud, legal or claims purposes. These may include:
- Family membership history and shared family records.
- Ride requests, offers, active-trip cancellation records, trip and route history.
- Child live/history location records and linked child-device records not directly keyed to the deleting adult user ID.
- Safety, SOS and support reports; reviews and trust records; post-ride confirmations; missing-item records; notifications and audit records.
- Provider, email, operational-log and backup copies whose deletion lifecycle has not yet been confirmed.
Tabi has not yet approved category-specific retention periods. This page therefore does not promise a retention duration or claim that all associated information is deleted. The final retention schedule and any lawful exceptions must be confirmed before public launch.
Identity verification and abuse prevention
Deletion requests are handled carefully to protect accounts and information belonging to children, families, drivers and other ride participants. Tabi may ask for limited evidence that matches existing account information, check whether the request came from a known account contact, or require another proportionate ownership check. Tabi will not ask for your password or one-time code by email.
